The Drop Site crew is in Chicago this week for the Democratic National Convention, but we’ll be mostly gathering reporting for longer-term stories, rather than covering the blow-by-blow directly. For that, I’ll be co-hosting Breaking Points each day this week. Some programming notes:
You can find our coverage on the Breaking Points channel on YouTube and we’ll be taking questions from Breaking Points subscribers on the days we go live. If you want to get an email letting you know when we go live, you can get a premium subscription for a month free at breakingpoints.com by entering in the promo code “DNC Free.”
We’re also teaming up with Hasan Piker, who’ll be streaming from the protests as well as from the Drop Site seat inside the arena. You can catch his stream on Twitch.
Our theory on political analysis—or hot-takes, as they’re better known—is that the proper medium for them is the world of podcasts and YouTube. The rare exception would be the well-crafted, insightful essay that makes you think about the world in a new way. Outside of that, you won’t find many hot-takes here on the print side of Drop Site. For those, check out Breaking Points, Hasan’s stream, or catch the video clips we post on Twitter or on our Instagram or TikTok channel.
