The Case for Trump 2024: Anti-Zionism vs. Preserving The First Amendment

15-8-2024 < Counter Currents 27 1263 words

President Donald TrumpAs an activist, I have to weigh the importance of various issue priorities. Is the most important issue preserving the First and Second Amendment or anti-Zionism?

If I am being completely honest, I am ranking Israel, Iran and anti-Zionism as being less important in how I plan to vote in the 2024 election. When Donald Trump was president, I covered almost every moment that Trump sucked up to Jews and Israel. Every single article that I wrote about that is still in the archives. In the 2020 election, I was angry and alienated from Trump and bought into the argument which was pushed by activists that “at least Biden would be better on Israel, Palestine and Iran policy.”

In 2024, Joe Biden has presided over a genocide in Gaza and lynchings by Israeli settlers in the West Bank. Israeli soldiers are sodomizing male Palestinian prisoners while mobs protest any attempt to punish them. Israel is on the verge of war with Hezbollah in Lebanon. A proxy war with Iran has broken out in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen. Israel has assassinated Hezbollah and Hamas leaders and IRGC commanders all over the Middle East. Congress has given Israel a record $26 billion in foreign aid and Joe Biden has signed a bill to force the sale of TikTok because there was too much criticism of Israel on social media. Also, thousands of people were arrested on college campuses in a massive crackdown for protesting the war in Gaza at the behest of top Democratic donors, which dwarfs what happened under Trump.

Having seen Joe Biden’s foreign policy, I am not persuaded that Donald Trump losing the 2024 election is 1.) a victory for Palestinian human rights or 2.) restrains Israel in any meaningful way or 3.) deescalates tensions with Iran or 4.) “sends a message” which is a victory for anti-Zionism. I am not persuaded that it will end Donald Trump’s political career. After all, he lost the 2020 election and came right back with the same pro-Israel foreign policy. Donald Trump losing the 2024 election does nothing about Jewish control of the media or Jewish donors purchasing our foreign policy or old people who are pro-Israel and who made up their minds back in the 1970s and 1980s. Instead, a Kamala Harris victory will be interpreted as a victory for the Jewish donors who are more powerful than ever after forcing Joe Biden to quit the race and who crushed the pro-Palestinian protests on the Left. It will be seen as a defeat for anti-Zionism.

Regardless of who wins the 2024 election, the next president is going to have a pro-Israel foreign policy because that is what the donor class and the public wants. In the long term, I think activists will prevail on the issue due to older voters cycling out of the electorate, the steady erosion of Israel’s public image and growing splits within the Jewish community. Ultimate victory for anti-Zionists is far from guaranteed though. It depends on the state of free speech on the internet and specifically on platforms like X and Rumble which are now the only means available to influence the national conversation.

When Donald Trump won the presidency in 2016, online free speech went into recession and to this day has never recovered. Donald Trump’s enemies unleashed an unprecedented deplatforming and censorship campaign. The Left completely wiped out nationalists on every internet platform which they controlled from YouTube to Facebook to iTunes. Trump himself was deplatformed from Twitter and Facebook after January 6. They used the DOJ to prosecute Ricky Vaughn for memes in the 2016 campaign. New York Attorney General Letitia James crushed VDARE which was strangled by years of lawfare and cancel culture. The Left has used state and corporate power to silence their opposition. In contrast, nationalists have been replatformed on X and Rumble and compete with conservative influencers.

If activists can get back on social media platforms like X and Rumble and batter Israel’s public image and it continues to deteriorate from death by a thousand cuts, anti-Zionists will likely succeed in undermining the pro-Israel “bipartisan consensus,” as younger voters already dislike Israel based on what they are seeing on the internet. Alternatively, if Kamala Harris wins the presidency and uses the federal government to retaliate against Elon Musk and strangle X, then the reach of activists will be greatly diminished and everyone will be ushered back to Gab and Telegram prison. Kamala Harris could also replace Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court. She will stack the federal courts with judges who will take us down the same road as the UK where activists are thrown in prison for “incitement to racial hatred.”

For any number of reasons, it is better for Trump and Musk to prevail in the 2024 election than Kamala Harris, but especially on the issue of internet free speech. Musk is also influencing the other tech bros and a Trump victory in the 2024 election could end up loosening the current stifling restrictions on free speech. A Kamala Harris victory followed by a successful campaign of punishment against Musk will have exactly the opposite effect. Owning Trump for a cheap laugh isn’t worth it and will only end up damaging the ability of activists and content creators to get their message out to the public.

Note:

In the UK, activists recently held a rally for Sam Melia outside the prison where he is incarcerated in for distributing It’s OK To Be White stickers. Patriotic Alternative is banned from X, but Musk himself has used the platform to echo their message to the entire world.

As usual, the point of this article is to explain my own thinking because otherwise you would not understand the shifts in my position. I am not telling you to vote for Donald Trump. You are capable of making your own decisions. This is my attempt to flesh out my own inner monologue.

1. The Right finally moves on from Trump in 2028

2. The Alt-Right has terrible political instincts

3. Joe Biden has been a sedative as president

4. Activist brain blinds us and creates prejudice against conservative normies

5. Trump is the leader because he is the best of the Republicans

6. “Worse is better” is a cope and was tried in 2020 and maintains the status quo

7. Voting is not a sacrament. Few know this

8. Voting is not going to change anything about Zionism in the next four years

9. Activists have the chance to ride the Trump wave without making the same mistakes

10. Activists are running out of material because the Overton Window has shifted so much

11. Donald Trump is a hunted dog who has been backed into a corner

12. Donald Trump is a divider, not a uniter and his legacy will ultimately be useful for us

13. Winning is still better than losing at baseline

14. The Left is still the enemy and wants to take away our freedoms

15. The cause of anti-Zionism depends on internet free speech.
