As the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris wrap up this weekend, we wanted to share a recap of Bishop Barron’s various commentaries on this global event.

When the Olympics kicked off on July 26, Bishop Barron was one of the first Catholic leaders to post his thoughts about the controversial depiction of Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper.

His video reaction went viral on social media and prompted other Catholic clergy and leaders to respond as well.

Once the Olympic competitions commenced, Bishop Barron offered a reflection after witnessing the gold medal–winning effort of Simone Biles:

“If you’re watching the greatest of all time perform, you’re just contemplating the beauty of this performance. And there’s something mystical about that, something wonderful about it. And you see why the Olympics emerged long ago and why they still hold our attention today.”
