Some news reports shielded black violence by placing the blame on “gun violence.” [source]

Zachary Lawrence, 25, was fatally shot in Dallas, TX.

Christopher Peterson, 62, was arrested for murder.

Peterson reportedly told police the gun went off during a fight.

According to an affidavit, however, Peterson approached Lawrence and another person with a gun and a fight ensued.

The affidavit describes how Peterson body-slammed Lawrence to the ground, stood over him, and fired one shot.

Peterson, when interviewed, told police he had no prior history with Lawrence and claimed the gun went off during the fight, according to the affidavit.

Public records profile Peterson as a black male. [source]

Bailey Troy Gardner, 27, was fatally shot at a Mount Juliet, TN marina.

Arrested was 40-year-old Adrian Alex McLean, an illegal alien from Jamaica.

Gardner appears to have been an innocent bystander who was killed after an armed robbery at Cedar Creek Marina and Restaurant. Gardner was in his car.

Investigators described the incident as a “cold-blooded murder”.

The owner of the restaurant explained that as employees were closing up for the night and counting money in an office, hooded robbers entered, pistol-whipped two employees, and forced them to open the safe. The employees were treated for their injuries and released at the scene.

McLean was later apprehended in Nashville. Authorities were reportedly searching for up to three suspects.

The restaurant’s surveillance video aided in the investigation. [source]

Celina Smith, 38, was fatally shot in Cumberland, MD.

Arrested was Kaleb Jas York, 18.

The victim was hospitalized in critical condition and died days later. [source]

33-year-old Orhan Hosic was fatally shot in Linden, MI.

Omar Brogdon was arrested for the murder.

Police ostensibly publicized a lack of leads in an effort to dupe the suspect and dissuade him from destroying evidence.

The strategy appears to have worked.

During the search, investigators found multiple weapons, including what could be the murder weapon. An orange Camaro, parked in a garage and wrapped in white vinyl, contained the two Corvette seats Hosic was selling.

“Never got rid of the car. Didn’t get rid of the weapons.” police said, calling it a “red herring.” [source]

13-year-old Matthiew Stavkovy was fatally shot in Kent, WA.

Four young males have been charged with first-degree murder:

20-year-old Diaviante Dunmore, 17-year-old Marsais Dunmore, 18-year-old Faysal Abdullahi, and 16-year-old Semarias Woods. They are all being charged as adults and are currently held on $2 million bail each.

The charges include first-degree robbery.

The four suspects are accused of participating in an armed robbery at Turnkey Park in Kent. According to court documents, one of the suspects used an OfferUp account to meet with a group of friends who were selling camera equipment. When they met, one suspect emerged with a gun and robbed the 15-year-old carrying the equipment.

When 13-year-old Matthiew Stavkovy attempted to leave the park on an ATV with his sister, prosecutors say one of the suspects shot him, and the group chased after them as they fled. Stavkovy passed out on the ATV and died shortly after. He was described as a standout student, devoted to his family and faith.

“They had a getaway driver. They arrived early to stage themselves before the victims’ arrival. Despite the defendants’ young ages, this shows a surprising amount of planning and forethought,” prosecutors stated.

Based on statements from other suspects and the possession of the modified handgun, it is believed that 17-year-old Marsais Dunmore was the one who shot and killed Stavkovy. [source]

Nathaniel Brown, 23, was fatally shot in Columbia, NC.

Amarion McCleese was arrested.

No backstory was provided. [source]

She was hit by the car, which was later found abandoned nearby with her son safe and still asleep inside.

Stakely, a school speech therapist, had just finished a shift at her second job when she arrived to pick up her son.

Surveillance photos and videos show three suspects walking away from the abandoned vehicle.

Stakely chose to work two jobs to make ends meet while the three suspects apparently chose to steal from those who work rather than work themselves. [source]

Fifteen-year-old Valeria Rodriguez was fatally shot by a stray bullet that flew through her family’s Round Lake Beach, IL home while she was having dinner with her sister.

Shorbonia Poole Jr., 19, was charged with one felony count of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon on Saturday.

Detectives reviewed video surveillance from several cameras in the area of the shooting. This led them to execute a search warrant.

Investigators stated that Poole Jr. is a resident of the home where the search warrant was executed, and their investigation revealed that he was in possession of the firearm used in Rodriguez’s homicide.

Ironically, the Rodriguez slaying reminiscent of Emmett Till, who was killed in Mississippi in 1955. Both victims were 15. Although the suspects in Till’s case were acquitted in court, his death continues to serve as a lasting example of white-on-black violence. [source]

13-year-old Jayda Woods-Johnson died after being struck by stray gunfire at a Linwood, WA mall.

16-year-old Samuel Gizawmale will be charged with murder, police said.

The victim was shot when an altercation erupted between two groups of teens, during which a male teen pulled out a handgun and fired at least one shot. The victim was not involved in the conflict.

Reports did not mention the racial composition of the groups.

About 52 percent of homicides are committed by blacks, according to FBI statistics. Blacks comprise about 13 percent of the country’s population. Considering most homicides are committed by males, we can assume that nearly half of all homicides can be attributed to black males; about 7 percent of the population. Then, considering very young and very old males seldom commit homicides, we estimate that about half of America’s homicides are committed by young black males who comprise about five percent of the country’s population. That is, about five percent of the population — young black males — commit about half of all homicides. [source]

Moore’s 33-year-old fiancé arrived at the scene and saw Moore being attacked. She exited her car with her firearm, hoping to de-escalate the situation by announcing she had a handgun. Dabbs managed to take the gun and began assaulting Moore’s fiancé before firing multiple rounds. Moore was shot in the chest, and another man was shot in the hand.
