Initial Thoughts On The Trump Assassination Attempt
There’s no going back folks.
Yesterday, July 13, 2024, a deranged wack job, Thomas Matthew Crooks, attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania by opening fire on the former president and his supporters.
Thankfully, U.S. Secret Service officers shot Crooks dead. That said, Crooks was able to pierce the upper part of Trump’s right ear. Even sadder, Corey Comperatore, a volunteer fire chief who threw himself in front of his family to protect them from gunfire, was killed by Crooks. Additionally, two people were wounded in this assassination attempt.
Awful on all counts.
Let’s be brutally honest, people. Normal politics are long gone.
The so-called liberal international order that has dominated Western politics is unraveling before our very eyes. The idea of peaceful transfers of power and the peaceful adjudication of political conflicts are becoming an afterthought.
And oh yeah, History, contrary to popular belief, continues apace.
As a result, hard power politics are making a comeback. To be brutally honest, the liberal Democratic order has blinded us from the fact that all politics is undergirded by violence.
When push comes to shove, those who use organized violence effectively end up imposing their will on their opponents and shape the course of historical events.
The quicker we come to this realization and start using prudential forms of state power to crush the enemies of civilization, the closer we will be toward restoring order.
