In an attempt to devastate Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, Ukraine has unveiled a lethal new fleet of drone boats.
The 60-horsepower speedboat engine of the kamikaze Stalker 5.0 vehicle allows it to race over the sea at speeds of 46 mph and has an operational range of 372 miles.
At the Black Sea Security Forum, Ukrainian officials first revealed information about the unmanned ship, which can carry explosive warheads weighing up to 150 kg.
The Kerch bridge, which connects occupied Crimea to mainland Russia, can be targeted by this weapon, which is five meters long and 1.2 meters wide, according to officials.
With a Starlink satellite internet terminal installed, the drone on the boat provides its operator with a real-time video stream.
The boat can transport food, water, military, and medical supplies to remote areas, and it may also be utilized for coastal patrols and surveillance. It also features a logical mode.
This would prove very helpful to Ukrainian forces on the Dnipro River’s right bank, where it’s getting harder to resupply marines using conventional boats as they try to retain the Krynky bridgehead.
With their rapidly developing maritime drones, Ukraine has been able to withstand the Russian invasion with great success.
The Russian navy was forced to evacuate the Black Sea after its finest warships were sunk by a combination of unmanned watercraft operated by Ukraine’s SBU security services and HUR military intelligence agency.
The $65 million Sergey Kotov, one of Putin’s most advanced warships, was allegedly hit by an explosive kamikaze sea drone strike in March close to Feodosia, in occupied Crimea. The ship barely entered service in 2022.
The £55 million Black Sea missile ship Ivanovets was sunk by Ukrainian unmanned seafaring craft, as demonstrated by a film released by the Ministry of Defense one month before this attack.
Thanks to these initiatives, Ukraine has been able to reestablish a grain shipping channel that is essential to its economic existence.
The SBU’s experimental kamikaze drone strike on Vladimir Putin’s £3 billion bridge connecting Russia and Crimea, which resulted in a massive explosion, is still, nevertheless, its most notable attack.
You can watch the video below:
Huge explosions caused by their “Sea Baby” drone to tear apart the 12-mile bridge in July 2023 momentarily cut off a vital military supply line from Crimea to the Russian mainland.
The film captures the naval kamikaze drone, equipped with up to 850 kg of explosives, approaching the bridge in the dark before smashing into it and launching flying debris into the air.
Following that attack, Russian coastal targets have been inundated with newly developed drone models, some of which are equipped with mobile Grad rocket launchers.
In response to these attacks, Putin’s military constructed a network of atypical defenses around the Kerch bridge, including layers of netting and floating booms, in the expectation that these measures might deter drone strikes in the future.
