Today is the 80th birthday of Alain de Benoist, the leading thinker of the French “New Right” who redefined the Right in post-war Europe, and ultimately transcended the Left/Right divide altogether in his effort to oppose and surpass liberalism. His thought is also central to the Counter-Currents project. The immense breadth of his work spans far more than merely the political, however, encompassing significant works on anthropology, literature, philosophy, religion, and other topics as well.
