One of the most controversial issues currently gripping US politics is the argument over election reform and ‘voting rights.’

To date, Democrats have been unable to pass Rep. Terri Sewell’s (D-AL) “John Lewis Voting Rights Act” which seeks to federalize state elections and remove safety checks and voter ID requirements. Frustrated by their inability to pass this new law, Democrats are now calling to change the rules of the US Senate and eliminate the time-honored filibuster provision.
